Acupuncture for Stress

Acupuncture for Stress - Can Needles Really Help??I've experienced a lot of stress in my 46 years of life. And have tried to deal with it in many unproductive ways. Including drugs, alcohol and food. Several months ago I entered a detoxification program in my community in an attempt to cleanse myself from it all.During this program I was introduced to acupuncture. The acupuncture therapist explained how it would benefit me, and used 5 needles on each ear. I was very skeptical. But thought to myself What do I have to lose? When the needles were inserted and I closed my eyes, I immediately felt a sense of relieve and relaxation that I cannot explain. During this procedure the lights were dimmed and I also listened to meditation music. A total calm came over my body - almost as though I had taken a drug. Before the acupuncture I had a difficult time with meditation. I couldn't stay focused. The needles were not painful to me. In fact some I didn't even feel at all! The therapist who did the acupuncture was certified to do so. She also used “talk therapy” while doing the acupuncture to help me relax. Since I have experienced acupuncture, I have highly recommended it to everyone I know. Not everyone has had the same experience that I have, but it certainly is worth a shot! After all, what have you got to lose? |
