Bhujangasana or Cobra pose

Bhujangasana or the Cobra is my most favorite yoga pose. The relaxation it provides is something great. I used to have low back pain before doing this asana. But since I've been doing it
my back pain has gone.

The first few times I did the pose I did get some pain in my lower back. But after much practice the strain felt in the lower back during the pose is really enjoyable now. Actually it's just like a lower back massage! And the energy released in the body as a part of this yoga pose is really quite amazing.

Cobra Pose - What to Keep In Mind

While lying on your stomach doing Bhujangasana the main thing to keep in mind is that your legs should be straight with your feet together. And your hands should be on the sides of your chest.

Now you inhale and imagine you are a cobra rising up,very slowly. Lift up your head and chest inch by inch as far as possible without the help of either arms or legs and till a strain is felt in the lower back.

Remain in that posture for some time while breathing regularly. Try to enjoy the pain felt in the lower back. The more slowly you do that the more perfect the posture can be attained and more enjoyable is the experience. After some time come back to the starting position very slowly and relax.

Its actually not to be seen as an exercise and should be enjoyed. The main difference between exercise and yoga is that while doing yoga energy is attained and while doing exercise energy is spent. Doing the Bhujangasana on a daily basis will also evoke the hidden energies and potentialities lying dormant in you.
