Bhujangasana: The Cobra Pose

The Bhujangasana Pose is one of the most important and basic of all Yoga Poses. Your trunk, neck and head form the shape of a hooded Cobra. Hence, it is also referred to as the Cobra Pose. The Buhjangasana concentrates on the torso (back) and the arms.

How to do perform the Cobra Pose

1) Lie down on your stomach with your feet together. Keep the palms of your hands by the side of your chest.

2) Using your hands SLOWLY raise your body including the back, the neck, and the torso to the maximum possible extent (Please avoid jerks). Keep the feet together and on the ground.

3) Inhale while you raise your body and exhale while you come back downwards.

4) This exercise can be repeated for 5 times.

2) Tones up superficial muscles of the back
3) Relieves back pain
4) Develops good appetite
5) Strengthens abdominal muscles
6) Helps women in toning up ovaries and uterus
