Family Meditation
by Julie
My Family Learns Meditation!I have a three year old son. My mother is about 54 years old. They both have a breathing problem.Over the last five or six months I have started teaching my son to do breathing meditation. His power to grasp and understand concepts is very good at three compared to other children. He tries to breath in and out when I tell him to, although sometimes he breathes out a little fast. I talk to him about the benefit of the exercise. I say that it is good for his lungs and point to his lungs, and I say that it is good for his health and he will be stronger slowly. I pull his chin up and ask him to keep his head straight and close his eyes and a number of other simple things that he can understand. But My Mom Just Won't Meditate! My mom visited us a couple of months back. And I tried to get her to do some breathing meditation. But she just wasn't interested. One day I was working on my lap top and my son was bothering me too much. In order to make him busy I told him to go teach his grandma some meditation. He just went away. After a while I was wondering why there was no noise. I peeped into my mom’s room I just stood there looking at my son. My son was pointing to his grandma’s chin and saying “look straight grandma, hold your chin up. Don’t bend your back” and he gave her a small whack on her back. “Your lungs will be strong, you will grow up faster and you will be healthy” and he added “concentrate or else I will be angry”. He continued “close your eyes don’t even open them”. And then he went on talking more dramatically about how good it is for the health. He sounded so much like me and it made me laugh so much. But what made me happier was how well my son had understood the concept and was trying to get my mom to do it.
