Meditation art gives you a unique opportunity to celebrate the visual joys of meditation using colour. How I Do Meditation Art - Getting ReadyFirst I take time to contemplate and relax into the session focussing on the internal and external breath. I find it's important to focus and slow my breathing down to a steady and rhythmic pace. And to try and eliminate any external distractions. How I Do Meditation Art- LookingI find a painting that I'm drawn to. It doesn’t seem to matter if its a watercolour or oils. It's my connection to the painting that matters. With my breathing fluid and body relaxed I focus on the painting and notice every swirling pattern or direction of colour. I try to become one with the painting. Feel its intensity.Try to see its meaning. I gaze at the painting until I absorb every brush stroke. Then with eyes closed I try to mentally conjure up that picture in my mind’s eye. If I find my attention wandering I just bring it back gently to the image. I feel the sense of peace envelop me as my mind fills with the mass of colours. I take my time with this meditation and enjoy the feeling of being centred and at peace. Meditation Art TipsKeep your breathing steady and your body relaxed. It may be difficult at first to maintain the image but persevere as the benefits are worth it.How I Do Meditation Art - PaintingThe next step is to create some art yourself! This is great fun and a great meditation.I try use my painting to interpret my inner feelings in a creative manner. So I paint a picture and using colours I am most attracted to. And for those of you who are wondering. No you don't need any painting skills at all. All you do is focus on the movements of capturing paint onto paper and to allow your movements to become instinctive and intuitive. There are no meditation scripts required. You just allow your inner self to be free. To focus on the sensations and experiences gained through free painting. I find my choice of colours is influenced by my thoughts and emotions. Sometimes it's some anger or pain I was not really aware of. I just let them ebb away with each brush stroke. Its very therapeutic and relaxing to pour your creative soul into painting like this. And it is this that makes meditation art so very good for you. |
