Meditation The Complete Guide by Patricia Monaghan and Eleanor G. Viereck

by Bill
(Warwickshire, UK)

I believe this is an excellent book for beginners especially those who have trouble concentrating on a particular task.

The book teaches you how to channel your thoughts and form levels of organizations in your mind. Also, the book advises you to practice this form of art only based on aesthetic pleasure rather than a job or duty. Which is very different to some meditation books.

In this way we learn more about our inner self and what kind of meditators we are.

Various art subjects have been touched on as well. Subjects relating to the ancient form of; Shamanism, Trance Dancing, Drumming and their uses, inculcating ecstatic postures and Shamanic Journeying.

I also found extensive information relating to Yoga, its purpose and effects if done for the sole purpose of discovering true serenity.

The various asanas of yoga were also covered including breathing techniques etc.

I would for these rate the book 8/10. Excellent for beginners.
