Stress Mantra

My Stress Mantra

Nobody's life is free of stress.

As a mother of two young children I can certainly promise you that mine is nowhere near it. There are moments when the whole world seems to cave in over me. Moments when I just want to clench my fists, squeeze my eyes shut and scream until my head bursts.

At times like this I've found it useful to take a minute to step aside and ..

Take a few deep breaths. Saying to myself breathe in...breathe out...breathe in...
Remind myself why I'm doing what I'm doing

For instance, when I get stressed out about money troubles, I list the reasons why we're broke. Like we decided the children were more important than money. So I wouldn't go back to work after having them. And that money isn't the most important thing in the world. Family is.

And I remind myself that things will get better.

That's probably what you could call my mantra in these moments. Things will get better.

I may not know exactly when they will improve, but they will.

After I've gone over these things in my head, and breathed deeply for a while, I go on with whatever it was I was doing. Then as soon possible I call one of my best friends for a chat. It's always helpful to natter on a bit to someone dear to you.

Great post Maggie. It's in real life that meditation matters. Whatever method you use!

I'm sure things will improve. And if they don't you have your priorities right.
